Early Years Programme
The early years of every child are very important to growth and development. It is in the early years that children begin to explore their environment with a heightened sense of curiosity and excitement. We want to harness that excitement for learning and use it to build a life-long passion for discovery and exploration. It is in the early years that we promote play, encourage questioning, and learn by trying. Today’s parents are looking for a learning methodology that will inspire their children and will help them find their passions. The IB Early Years Program is designed to do just that.

Mrs. Dina Ragaie
PYP Head
Welcome to the Primary Years Programme (PYP) at Carleton College International School.
At CCIS, we believe that learning is most meaningful when students inquire, make connections across disciplines, and apply their understanding to authentic, real-life experiences. Through the transdisciplinary nature of the PYP, we nurture student agency by encouraging learners to ask questions, make choices, reflect on their learning, and take meaningful action that creates a positive impact within the classroom, the community, and beyond.
We are committed to the holistic development of every learner by nurturing the Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and the attributes of the IB Learner Profile. Together with our dedicated educators and families, we strive to develop knowledgeable, caring, principled, and internationally minded learners who are equipped with the skills and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world.
I invite you to explore our PYP community and discover how inquiry, collaboration, and meaningful action shape our students’ learning journey. Together, we look forward to inspiring every learner to grow, lead, and make a difference.
Ms. Lamya Habib
PYP Coordinator
As an Early Years Coordinator, I believe that the early years lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. The IB philosophy resonates deeply with my educational vision because it nurtures children as curious, caring, and capable individuals who actively make sense of the world around them. Through inquiry-based learning, meaningful play, and authentic experiences, we empower young learners to develop confidence, independence, and a strong sense of identity. The IB approach encourages children to think critically, communicate effectively, and build positive relationships while appreciating diverse perspectives and cultures. It is a privilege to be part of a learning community that values the whole child and inspires every learner to grow as a reflective, knowledgeable, and principled member of society. Together, we create an environment where curiosity is celebrated, questions are encouraged, and every child is supported in reaching their full potential. |
